If not for fire…

What can happen if the lights go out?

Piecing it all together : Tailor’s Thread : A legacy.

Not every boat is meant to cross the river Styx. Perhaps we are all indeed just angels at varying levels of consciousness of one kind or another. Or, hovering dragonflies.

“Where the spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art.” — da Vinci

“By accident of fortune a man may rule the world for a time; but by virtue of love he may rule the world forever.” — Lao Tzu

“Culture and warriorhood are inseparable from everything else…To properly practice the principles of respect for parents, brotherliness, loyalty, and faithfulness is called warriorhood.” — bushido aphorism

“Culture is a different name for the path of humaneness; warriorhood is a difficult name for the path of justice. Because humaneness and justice are a single virtue of human nature, culture and warriorhood are a single quality and not separate things.” — bushido aphorism

The harnessing of electricity for the purpose of reading is the greatest thing to happen to human beings since candlelight fire.

“In primo, solo per voi,” she whispers. First, only for you. Ascoltare cura. Parlare lentamente:

It is as though someone said, “Here are chunks of space and time — let us see what you come up with.” We are in the “We are here now” of it all. And I use these words an author gave to break fourth walls:

“You own everything that happened to you.

Tell your stories. If people wanted

you to write warmly about them, they

should have treated you better.” — Anne Lamott

This is a chunk of time called our earth. This is life. This is me and it is also us…the writers, the thinkers, tinkers, and dragonflies.

Where the spirit does not work with the hand there is no art…

“In hard and craggy stone the mere removal of the surface gives being to a figure, which ever grows the more stone is hewn away.” — Michelangelo

There is a woman in a holding cell who at first looks as though she is wearing a straight jacket. The holding cell is what is the problem. You know how it goes for a while: Back and forth, back and forth. Until one day, instead of pacing she takes a step forward and pushes the cell door open with her foot and walks away. Held close to her body for her own protection, what first gives the appearance of being binding restraints unfold and show themselves to be…

“Nature must not win the game, but she cannot lose. And whenever the conscious mind clings to hard and fast concepts and gets caught in its own rules and regulations — as is unavoidable and of the essence of civilized consciousness — nature pops up with her inescapable demands.” — Carl Gustav Jung

Not every ship, dear reader, was meant to carry slaves.

What does a traveler do after three…or for… years of life as constant journey? Perhaps she sits down in a quiet place and by light of prayer and candle she writes letters.

See fire…

And anywhere the spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art.

Here is a chunk of time, dear writers. Crafted just for you.

As water…
